What ever happened to the red vest?

In 1993 the infamous "Junior Band Red Vest" was retired with much enthusiasm at the Holiday Celebration Concert in December. Although they were rather striking on stage, their appeal to prospective Band members was rather limited.
Since then, the Junior Band has proudly worn the black watch blazer.
The black watch jacket is still used by the Senior Band as a travel uniform.
The vest has been immortalized in verse and frame in our music room.
Ode to a Red Vest
Amanda Cole-1993
In days of yore, this handsome vest
Would proudly signify only the best.
However, as the years went by,
Its sex appeal began to die.
Yet still we strayed not from the trail
Of training Juniors to prevail
Over the pettiness of style...
But still it pleased them to defile.
This vest of reddish colour bold
Is slightly tacky to behold.
(But credit where we know it's due-
It kept our bras from showing through!)
We know not from what era past
This stylish cut first came to pass;
We only hope it will remain
Away from us, not used again.
And we can show our colour true,
As now, at last, we say...Adieu!
